We are closely monitoring the latest information and updates from state, local, and school officials regarding the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). With the safety and interest of our supporters and staff in mind, our spring events have been postponed and all By Degrees team members are working from home.
Sweet Dreams 2020
Our annual Sweet Dreams event, typically held in late April, will be postponed until fall 2020. More information will be provided in early summer.
Spring into Savings
Our online fundraising campaign scheduled for next week (March 23 – March 27), in partnership with the 1:1 Fund, will be postponed until June.
We will have the opportunity to take advantage of a $5,000 match from the 1:1 Fund at that time.
Bingo & Beer with AMA Iowa
This year’s Bingo and Beer Benefiting By Degrees event, scheduled for April 15 and hosted by AMA Iowa, is postponed until summer 2020.
Those who have registered or purchased tickets will receive updated communications from AMA Iowa. A rescheduled date will be determined in the coming weeks.
DMPS Schools Closed Until April 13
On Sunday, March 15, Des Moines Public Schools announced that all programs, activities, and classes at DMPS schools are cancelled until Monday, April 13.

The By Degrees Team
Our physical office and schools may be closed, but our team is hard at work. We are focused on assisting school staff and students with needs as they arise and continue to plan our postsecondary and career programing for when school resumes.
As a Des Moines-based nonprofit with a small but mighty team, we rely on the donations of our local community to remain a strong and consistent presence in our schools and students’ lives. In times like these, your support makes our continued work possible.
Should we make additional changes or announcements, we will share those updates on our website and social media channels.
Thank you for remaining a steadfast supporter of our work, and for being part of the By Degrees difference.
KING COHORT GRADUATES
Through our original cohort model, we adopted the first grade class at Des Moines' King Elementary School in 2006. These students graduated from high school in spring 2018.
